After the roaring success of Jurassic World Rebirth at the box office, fans have waited patiently to hear about the future of the dinosaur franchise. Although the studio has yet to confirm if a sequel is on the way, a new rumor has suggested that Rebirth‘s success will lead into a direct sequel.

According to insider Daniel Ritchman, Universal Pictures is planning a direct sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth with Scarlett Johansson set as the lead once again. It’s unclear who else might return, or if director Gareth Edwards will be back at the helm, but the news should excite fans waiting for an update on the iconic franchise. Rebirth earned a whopping $860 million over the summer, becoming the fourth highest grossing film of the year. The film failed to impress critics, garnering a mixed 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences welcomed the sequel with open arms, giving it a 70% on the Popcornmeter scale.

Alongside Johansson, the cast of Jurassic World Rebirth featured Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Belchir Sylvain and Ed Skrein. The film was a soft reboot of the main storyline, dialing back on the concept of dinosaurs living among humans across the world. Now, the resurrected species are back to only living in extremely remote locations, closer to the original vision of the Jurassic Park trilogy. Read the official synopsis for Rebirth below:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
