The Studio made history with 23 Emmy Award nominations, making it the most nominated comedy series of all time, tied with last year’s controversial nominations for The Bear. Having already picked up nine awards at the Creative Emmys, including one for the incredible Bryan Cranston. Now, the series has continued its success at the 77th Emmy Awards.
The Apple TV+ comedy started the night off with a bang, as Seth Rogen won in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category at the Emmys. It did not take long for The Studio to hit the 11th Emmy Award mark at the ceremony, which is now the most for a first season of a series of all time. Although Ike Barinholtz losing out in the Supporting Actor category was a stunner, it seems the comedy is having no problem dominating the awards show. The Studio also won Best Writing for a Comedy Series. In general, Apple TV+ in general is having a great night, as Severance is also stacking up the wins alongside The Studio.
The Studio took on HBO’s The Penguin at the Creative Emmys, taking one more award by the end of the ceremony. The rematch at the main Emmy Awards was always going to be another hard-fought battle, and it seems that Seth Rogen’s take-down of the industry is celebrated at many awards ceremonies like the Emmys.
‘The Studio’ Season 2 Has a Lot of Weight on Its Shoulders
While Apple TV+ has been the subject of reports suggesting that their profits are not exactly challenging the revenues of other streamers such as Netflix or Prime Video. However, it cannot be denied that if you are looking for an exceptional drama or hilarious comedy, Apple TV+’s small but well-formed library is hard to beat. Just like Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, and Severance, The Studio has delivered a series with some big star names, a strong script, high production values, and it shows in the series’ success.
Season 1 of The Studio landed an impressive 93% Tomatometer score, and even though its audience rating was lower at 76%, the show’s awards performance means that there will be more eyes on Season 2. After such a strong first season, though, that also means that everyone will be expecting the same quality next time around. Last month, Rogen said that he was “in the midst” of completing the new script to take to Apple and find out “if they had any major concerns.” Considering some of the things the first season got away with, it seems unlikely that there will be too many complaints about whatever Rogen delivers.
There is currently no release date set for Season 2 of The Studio, but with scripting seemingly complete, it will likely arrive on Apple TV+ late 2026 or early 2027.
