The Batman – Part II is finally headed to production next year, but it will not feature a standout character from the hit HBO spinoff The Penguin. After winning an Emmy for her performance as Sofia Falcone, it’s been revealed that Cristin Milioti won’t make her big-screen debut as the villain in the Batman sequel.
During an interview with MTV (via ComingSoon.net), director Matt Reeves revealed that Milioti is not returning as Sofia Falcone in The Batman – Part II. He pointed out the fact that he and co-writer Mattson Tomlin were already deep into creating the sequel’s story by the time she joined the series. Still, it is shocking to hear that news, especially after Milioti ended up winning the Outstanding Lead Actress award soon after Reeves’ statement.
“Cristin’s not in this one, but that’s because we were so deep into the script by the time we were in the show. But we’ll see. I mean, I think what she did in the show is just astonishing. That character, I mean, creating. So it would be really exciting to do something with her.”
More to come.
