Donald Trump seems to have had one of his greatest wishes come true as Jimmy Kimmel and his late night talk show has been removed from ABC following the host’s recent comments in relation to the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Like many late night hosts, Kimmel has said shared his frank and candid thoughts on the matter in the opening monologue of his latest episode, and Nexstar do not want to allow him to do it again. In a statement (as per Deadline), the company said:
“Nexstar’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show. Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”
During his show on Monday, Kimmel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.”
While Kimmel is just one of several talk show hosts to make some close-to-the-knuckle remarks about the shooting, it seems that Nexstar has taken a firm stance when it comes to Kimmel’s future, and for now, that future does not include a spot on television.
