One of Sydney Sweeney‘s most underrated movies is about to stream for free. The actress, who is known for her roles in Euphoria, Anyone But You, The White Lotus, The Handmaid’s Tale, and (unfortunately) Madame Web, is currently one of the most in-demand actresses. Her new movie, Christy, just premiered at TIFF, and she’s set to star in the final season of Euphoria, a new Gundam movie, Split Fiction, and the upcoming The Housemaid. But it’s her most underrated and steamiest film that is about to land on free streaming. Euphoria certainly doesn’t shy away from R-rated content, but it’s the erotic thriller, The Voyeurs, that will soon stream for free.
Four years after it was released, Sydney Sweeney’s The Voyeurs will soon stream for free on Tubi. The film lands on the completely free streaming platform on October 1, as part of the streamer’s new range of thriller movies. Fans of the genre can also enjoy the likes of The Game, Side Effects, Enemies Closer, The Good Son, and Running With the Devil. The Voyeurs debuted in 2021 and starred Justice Smith, Ben Hardy, Cait Alexander, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Katharine King So, alongside the aforementioned Sweeney. Smith and Sweeney star as a young couple who have just moved into Montreal and start developing an obsession with their voyeuristic neighbors. But the seemingly innocent curiosity soon spirals into a dangerous obsession. The official synopsis reads:
“After moving into a beautiful loft apartment in Downtown Montreal, a young couple (Sydney Sweeney and Justice Smith), find themselves becoming increasingly interested in the sex life of their eccentric neighbors across the street (Ben Hardy and Natasha Liu Bordizzo). What starts out as an innocent curiosity slowly turns into an unhealthy obsession, after they discover that one of these neighbors is cheating on the other. Temptation and desire cause their lives to become tangled together in unexpected ways, leading to deadly consequences.”
Written and directed by Michael Mohan, The Voyeurs was released during the height of the COVID pandemic. As a result, it was exempt from a standard theatrical release and instead streamed directly on Prime Video. However, the film has since jumped to various streamers, gaining a small cult following. With The Voyeurs now set to stream on Tubi, expect its audience base to grow exponentially.
‘The Voyeurs’ Is One of Sydney Sweeney’s Most Divisive Movies
The Voyeurs might have a growing fan base, but it is still one of Sydney Sweeney’s most divisive movies (although, not as divisive as her jeans advert). Neither critics nor audiences knew what to make of the movie. Some loved its exploration of the erotic thriller genre, while others simply found it too gratuitous.
As a result, The Voyeurs holds a very divisive Rotten Tomatoes score of 44%. Audiences held similarly juxtaposed opinions on the film, as its audience score sits just higher at 46%. Letterboxd users are also torn on The Voyeurs, as it has an average rating of 2.7.
