The fall anime season is here, and with it comes the return of many favored series. October brings fans My Hero Academia (final season), One-Punch Man (Season 3), SPY x FAMILY (Season 3), Blue Orchestra (Season 2), and Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill (Season 2), to name a few. While fans are already excited and tuned in for a return of their favorite, the fall anime season also brings a ton of new titles for those looking for humor, horror, or action.

Below, we will outline new series that should be on your radar. At the bottom of this article, you will find a complete list of all fall anime titles.

‘A Star Brighter Than the Sun’

Premiering on October 2, 2025

Based on the popular romance manga by Kazune Kawahara, A Star Brighter Than the Sun centers on two childhood friends meeting up later in their lives: Sae Iwata, who is taller and stronger than her peers, making her stand out, and Koki Kamishiro, who has grown to be tall himself, having been previously teased for being small. Being reunited after years, the two childhood friends quickly reconnect, and their tall stature sparks a new relationship.

A well-received romance manga making it to the screen will always have a built-in fanbase of audiences ready to swoon. Backed by the talented team of Studio KAI (Super Cub, Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Skeleton Knight in Another World) and with the voice leads of Minori Fujidera and Yūki Ono, A Star Brighter Than the Sun has the makings of being the stand-out shōjo release this fall.

‘This Monster Wants to Eat Me’

Premiering on October 2, 2025

Hinako Yaotose is a high school girl in a coastal town grappling with mental health struggles, including suicidal thoughts, after the recent passing of her family. Her life takes a bizarre turn when a yokai (monster) named Shiori takes claim of Hinako’s life, protecting her from others until she gets to the point in her life where she becomes most desirable to the creature. Despite the macabre predicament, Hinako forms a strained relationship with the monster.

Fans of Netflix’s The Summer Hikaru Died should make a point to check out This Monster Wants to Eat Me, as it offers a similar mash-up of romance, horror, comedy, and psychological elements to deliver an anime for a mature audience. Studio Lings (Yuri Is My Job!, Tachibanakan To Lie Angle) is producing the anime, with direction by Naoyuki Kuzuya and Yūsuke Suzuki, who are best known for their work on the fan-favorite The Executioner and Her Way of Life.

‘A Wild Last Boss Appeared!’

Premiering on October 4, 2025

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! starts with the defeat of Lufas Maphaahl, once known as the “Black-Winged Overlord” in the fictional MMORPG Exgate Online, through a player-organized event. Returning 200 years later in a new avatar, Lufas soon discovers that things have only gotten worse, with her NPC subordinates, known as the “Twelve Heavenly Stars,” now threatening the very existence of the fantasy realm. She must now rebuild her kingdom as the final boss and attempt to restore order.

Coinciding with the release of the new game on Switch, PS4, and PS5 (A Wild Last Boss Appeared: Black Winged Survivor), the latest fantasy isekai series presents itself as a love letter to the RPG genre. The popular “trapped in a game” trope of isekai gets a nice little twist by having the once-ruling boss return in a new form, adding intrigue for fans of the fantasy genre. A Wild Last Boss Appeared! comes from the studio WAO World (Mashin Creator Wataru, Gold Muscle, Animegataris).

‘Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!’

Premiering on October 5, 2025

Set in a futuristic Japan, Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! follows the titular cyborg Alma, a living weapon created by two brilliant scientists, Enji and Suzume. Despite her dangerous abilities, Alma wants nothing to do with fighting and instead seeks a genuine human connection, as the child of her creators, whom she lovingly calls Mom and Dad. While Enji and Suzume are first taken aback by their creation’s desire for bedtime stories and pancakes instead of war, they slowly slip into the role of parents, teaching Alma what it means to be human.

Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! offers up a unique take on familiar genres, blending sci-fi action with heartfelt comedy based around family dynamics. Based on the popular manga by Nanateru and coming from Studio Flad (Banished from the Hero’s Party), the series has been highly anticipated since its announcement. Looking at the trailer, it appears that the series will deliver action, humor, heart, and some memorable moments.

‘Mechanical Marie’

Premiering on October 5, 2025

Mechanical Marie follows Marie Evans, a former martial arts prodigy who finds herself in hard times. To make some money, she pretends to be a robot to take on the job of a “mechanical maid” to Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate. Arthur, who hates people, becomes Marie’s duty as she attends to his needs and fights off terrorist threats, all the while keeping up the facade of an emotionless servant.

A woman masquerading as a cyborg while navigating a high-stakes and deadly environment offers a unique take on familiar tropes, blending elements of comedy, sci-fi, romance, and action. The contrast between misanthropic Arthur and excitable, strong-willed Marie makes them the perfect pairing for the intended heart and humor the series aims for. Mechanical Marie comes from the studios Zero-G and Liber, both of which had previously worked on different seasons of Grand Blue Dreaming.
