Fans of King of the Hill have gotten some excellent news, as Hulu has ordered two additional seasons on top of the upcoming season. The animated sitcom first aired on Fox from 1997 to 2010 and followed the Hill family in Arlen, Texas, as they navigated a changing world and culture alongside their colorful cast of neighbors and friends. In 2025, the series was revived on Hulu, featuring a time jump, with a retired Hank (Mike Judge) and Peggy (Kathy Najimy) returning to America after 10 years in Saudi Arabia, with their son Bobby (Pamela Adlon) now a young man in his twenties and owning his own Japanese-fusion restaurant.
Hulu has announced that King of the Hill has been renewed for two additional seasons, each with ten episodes. King of the Hill Season 14 (the first of the revival) debuted with 10 episodes on August 4, 2025, while Season 15 will air in 2026. The new renewal brings King of the Hill up to Season 17 and into 2027 at the least.
‘King of the Hill’ Has Been One of the Best Series of 2025
The King of the Hill revival has been a big hit for Hulu. Disney says the overall series has passed 1 billion hours of watchtime worldwide across Hulu and Disney+, likely spurred on by the revival, generating interest in the previous seasons. King of the Hill Season 14 debuted at the top of Hulu’s charts and reportedly drew in 4.4 million views in its first week of release on Hulu and Disney+. King of the Hill spent four weeks in Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming charts. It was clear that audiences not only loved the new King of the Hill but also wanted more.
King of the Hill garnered critical acclaim as well, scoring 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many have considered it the ideal revival, and the right show at the right time. The series’ new status quo opens up plenty of new storytelling possibilities that could be explored for years to come. Even though fans were aware of more episodes coming in 2026, since King of the Hill was initially approved for 20 episodes, there was concern that Hulu might not renew the series, despite all the critical acclaim and viewership. After all, Alien: Earth fans are still waiting to hear the fate of that critically acclaimed series.
With the next batch of episodes already completed and Season 15 ready for 2026, work can begin on Seasons 16 and 17. The hope is that the series can maintain a consistent release schedule of one season a year. Season 14 of King of the Hill released all ten episodes at once, but now that Hulu knows the series is a hit, it might shift to a weekly release format. Not only would that replicate the original release pattern of King of the Hill when it aired on Fox as part of the Animation Domination Sunday programming block, but it also allows Hulu to stretch out one of its biggest hits to keep subscribers hooked despite the price increases that will likely follow in the coming years.
