One Piece Season 3 is already well on its way, and Netflix has just dropped a fiery bomb about the latest actor joining the acclaimed fantasy adaptation. With production commencing this year, the streamer has been revealing key details about the third installment of the live-action version of Eiichiro Oda’s manga.

Netflix has officially announced that Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña has joined the cast of One Piece Season 3 as Portgas D. Ace. For the uninitiated, he is known as Monkey D. Luffy’s fellow pirate brother who possesses the powers of the Flame-Flame Fruit. He becomes a key character in the original manga after his introduction in the Alabasta Arc, which Season 3 will be based on. There may be hints at his existence in Season 2, which releases this March, but it seems viewers will have to wait another season to see Ace in the flesh. Check out Netflix’s social media announcement below.

The casting addition of Maridueña has been a longtime coming for One Piece fans, as it was already rumored that the Blue Beetle actor was set to join the Netflix series shortly after Season 2 was announced. Aside from his superhero role in the DCU, Maridueña is best known for his work in Cobra Kai, which ended earlier this year with its sixth and final season. Now, he joins an extensive One Piece Season 3 cast that also added Tony winner Cole Escola as fan-favorite Bon Clay, also known as Mr. 2 Bon Kurei.
