Millie Bobby Brown is no longer the child that Stranger Things fans have watched growing up over the last decade, and it seems the days for photographers being able to coax a cheesy grin from the actress are well and truly over. While appearing at the London event for the launch of Stranger Things 5, the actress clapped back at paparazzi shouting at her to smile as she posed for photos.
While plenty of photographers at the event were happy to simply snap away as Brown posed, the voice calling for her to smile was quickly hit with a retort of, “Smile? You smile?” You can see the moment in the post shared below.
As many have pointed out, Brown is currently looking after a new baby, taking part in press tours for Stranger Things, and no doubt working on her next projects, meaning that suffering fools is probably not high on her agenda. Brown has now joined several other stars who have taken a stand against rude photographers and their demands during media coverage of events, which has included Chapelle Roan, Ariana Grande, and Hannah Waddingham, who shut down a photo opportunity for everyone when asked to “show more leg” by one snapper.
While coaxing a child to “watch the birdy” and perform like a seal may be easy, doing the same to a grown adult is not exactly the same thing. Perhaps it is because Brown spent much of her time in the spotlight as a child that many still see her as such, but it looks like they are learning very quickly that if no smile is on the cards, then there will be no smiles given as a result of being bellowed at by a man with a camera.
‘Stranger Things’ Has Helped Millie Bobby Brown Become a Star
Just like many of the other young actors to have appeared in Stranger Things over the last decade, Millie Bobby Brown has grown from a child into an adult, and expanded her horizons considerably in the process. As well as her role as Eleven in the Netflix sci-fi horror hit, she has appeared in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, two Enola Holmes movies, with another on the way, dragon fantasy Damsel, the Russo brothers’ The Electric State, and has several other roles lined up, including the fantasy horror TV series, Prism.
While many stars of Stranger Things are now wondering where the next steps of their careers will take them outside the show that has been a huge part of their lives since 2016, it is clear that Brown has a path charted out for at least the next few years beyond the show that kickstarted her Hollywood career.
Stranger Things 5 debuts later this month with the first run of episodes of its final season. This will be followed by more episodes released at Christmas before the story reaches its cinematic conclusion on New Year’s Eve, bringing one of the most successful TV shows of all time to a hopefully satisfying end.
