Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, the man known today as “Mr. Movies,” has finally won his first Oscar. The actor, who in recent years has become known for his commitment to both death-defying stunts and keeping the theatrical experience alive, has been nominated for an Academy Award multiple times before, but has never taken one home. Until now.
The actor and producer who has spent most of his life in the Hollywood spotlight since making his big-screen debut in the early 1980s, received an honorary Oscar in recognition of his work over the decades during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 16th Governors Awards on Sunday night.
