Amazon MGM Studios has launched a thrilling new trailer for Project Hail Mary, an upcoming adaptation of the bestselling novel from Andy Weir, the author behind The Martian. Ryan Gosling leads the sci-fi adventure, which hails from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, playing an amnesiac astronaut by the name of Ryland Grace, who, per the synopsis below, awakens on a spacecraft with no recollection of himself or his mission. However, he won’t be flying completely solo, as the trailer sees the space traveler strike up an unlikely friendship with a fist-bumping alien ally – who fans of the book are seeing on screen for the first time.
“Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship, light-years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.”
