One of Hollywood’s most important filmmakers is about to get the tribute he deserves. The best films by Alfred Hitchcock, deemed an early master of genre cinema, will be released on 4K in a beautiful collector’s edition. The set, to be released on October 14, 2025, will include 15 of Hitchcock’s most prominent films. While he isn’t always associated with horror, the release includes some of the director’s most haunting films, such as Psycho, Rope, The Birds, and Frenzy.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, fans can already pre-order the beautiful-looking box set on Amazon. The starting price is $124.99, but be on the lookout for a discount upon release. Aside from the discs, the collector’s edition also comes with a 64-page booklet that has storyboards, photographs, and other material in reference to the movies. The box set called Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection, also comes with the digital version for each movie:

Saboteur (1942)

Shadow of a Doubt (1943)

Rope (1948)

Rear Window (1954)

The Trouble with Harry (1955)

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)

Vertigo (1958)

North by Northwest (1959)

Psycho (1960)

The Birds (1963)

Marnie (1964)

Torn Curtain (1966)

Topaz (1969)

Frenzy (1972)

Family Plot (1976)

Of course, releasing all of Hitchcock’s films in one collection is ambitious because of rights (this one is a Universal Pictures box set). It’s why this 4K edition is missing gems like Spellbound, Rebecca, To Catch a Thief, and Strangers on a Train. In any case, if you’re trying to enter the master of suspense’s territory, and want to do so in high-definition glory, this is a great place to start. Almost all the films are featured in High Dynamic Range (HDR10), something fairly rare for movies that aren’t exactly modern.

Hitchcock is one of those movie directors whose legacy speaks for itself. He didn’t have the recognition he deserved when he was still active, but this has changed throughout the years. Hollywood has shifted its appreciation of the director, and today, he’s considered one of cinema’s most important auteurs, and a pioneer in the art of storytelling using the film medium.

While his craft is undeniably important, many of his films were made at a different time. It wasn’t until the 70s that behind-the-scenes documentaries became popular for showcasing the craft behind some of cinema’s most important films. There is documentation about what transpired behind the camera during Hitchcock’s productions (these tales have become the stuff of legend), but nothing as sophisticated as what gets produced nowadays. There’s an academic side to this material, and luckily, this 4K release offers some of that behind-the-scenes insight.

Standouts include documentaries, sketches made by the director himself, and trailers of all kinds. Some of the most important documentaries are Obsessed with Vertigo: New Life of Hitchcock’s Masterpiece, Rear Window Ethics: An Original Documentary, In The Master’s Shadow: Hitchcock’s Legacy, and Pure Cinema: Through the Eyes of the Master, among many others. It’s a curated selection meant for true fans, as some of these are not available elsewhere.
