10 Best Horror Movies To Watch Next After ‘Witchboard’

The 1986 cult classic Witchboard is filled with supernatural scares, and its two sequels, Witchboard 2: The Devil’s Doorway and Witchboard III: The Possession, offer fans even more Ouija-based thrills and chills. More recently, the 2024 Witchboard remake, although very different from the previous films, earned an even higher Rotten Tomatoes score than the original. Although overall reactions to the remake are mixed, it’s undeniable that this new Witchboard has reignited a spark in horror fans and left them clamoring for more.

Somewhat-True, Truly Terrifying

Verónica is loosely based on the Vallecas case, an incident in which a teenager named Estefanía died after using a Ouija board. That alone makes it scary, as the Vallecas case was the first time in which supernatural events were officially documented in a police report. Like others on this list, this film might be scarier than Witchboard, but it speaks to the same themes that make that movie so enticing.

Actress Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn) becomes concerned when her daughter, Regan (Linda Blair), starts acting strangely.
