Elisabeth Moss and Kate Hudson are joining forces in an upcoming thriller that will blend horror and comedy for a truly diabolical tale about staying relevant in an ever-changing industry that shuns aging performers. Shell follows an actress turning to a wellness influencer who promises to keep her young forever, but a sinister truth threatens to tear it all down. In a newly-released scene, Moss plays an out-of-place actress who meets up with an old friend who is up for the same role as her.
MovieWeb can exclusively reveal a clip from Shell, which features Samantha Lake (Moss) at an audition when she meets social media star and acquaintance Chloe Benson (Kaia Gerber). When asked if she is reading for the same role, Samantha says she is actually just meeting with the director. Elisabeth Moss & Kate Hudson Star in Horror-Comedy ‘Shell’
As the clip suggests, Shell won’t just be a straight-up horror thriller — expect dark comedy elements that play into the film’s themes. Armed with a 100-minute runtime, the feature was directed by Max Minghella, known for his role in The Social Network and his 2018 directorial debut Teen Spirit, based on a screenplay by The Passenger scribe Jack Stanley.
