A depraved comic book adaptation that likely caused even more walkouts than this year’s unorthodox superhero flick, The Toxic Avenger, has now debuted its first trailer amid finally being given a release date. The transgressive comedy horror movie, which premiered back in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, possesses a title, plot, and footage more depraved than you’re probably expecting, so reader discretion is advised…
Making its debut earlier this year, the comedy horror flick in question is F**k My Son!, which is the demand of the main character, a warped mother who kidnaps a woman with the intention of forcing her to perform the titular act with her grossly deformed offspring. Written and directed by Todd Rohal, and based on the comic of the same name by Johnny Ryan, the horror outing stars Tipper Newton (The Mindy Project), Robert Longstreet (The Midnight Club), Steve Little (Eastbound & Down), and Kynzie Colmery (The Staircase).
Described as “The Film that Goes Too Far!” F**k My Son! is now all set to open in theaters on October 17, 2025, and you can check out further details, as well as the official synopsis and extremely NSFW footage below…
An X-Rated descent into demented comedy and maniacal horror, as a desperate mother drags an innocent stranger into an absurd, filthy nightmare beyond comprehension. An unflinchingly loyal adaptation of transgressive artist Johnny Ryan’s joyfully disgusting comic book. Adults only.
The Warped Horror Comedy Resulted in a Seriously Divisive Response. Obviously.
After viewing the trailer, it should come as no surprise to learn that F**k My Son! reportedly resulted in “laughter, groans and even a few walkouts” when making its TIFF debut. The horror comedy was met with a seriously divisive response from critics (and some audiences, who also took issue with the movie using generative AI), with Moveable Fest’s Stephen Saito saying, “In a film that could so easily strike one note, it feels as if the writer/director has convened world-class orchestra to play it.” While Flickering Myth’s Will Hume slammed the movie, concluding, “Few films beg for a one-star review more than Todd Rohal’s F**k My Son!”
Released by a creative collective consisting of Todd Rohal, Tommy Lucente (media & entertainment exec, ex-Vice/Fox/Disney), James Belfer (producer/distributor, Cartuna), Gavin Briscoe (booker/distributor, Cartuna), and Michael Tully (publicist, writer/director behind Septien, Ping-Pong Summer, Don’t Leave Home), F**k My Son! has been given quite specific release dates and locations with more expected to come (via Variety).
“Rather than turning the film over to a traditional distributor, ‘F**k My Son!‘ will be released through a filmmaker-led collective — a new model that combines the independence of DIY cinema with the reach of industry expertise,” the collective’s statement reads. “This cooperative structure allows the filmmakers to retain full ownership of their movie while drawing on the resources, strategy, and connections usually reserved for studio-backed releases. The goal is simple: to prove that bold, independent films can thrive in theaters without surrendering their rights or creative vision.”
