There are fewer tragic things in Hollywood than the loss of a rising star at an incredibly young age. The news of 23-year-old Isabelle Tate’s death falls into that category, as if you don’t know the name, it is because the young actress had not had the chance to fully reach her potential in the industry.
Tate was confirmed to have passed away by her talent agent, who wrote on Facebook, “I’ve known Izzy since she was a teenager and she recently returned to acting. She booked her first series she auditioned for, 9-1-1: Nashville. She had a wonderful time. I was so lucky to know her and she will be greatly missed by so many.”
Sharing their own tribute to the actress, Tate’s family wrote:
“Isabelle loved volunteering her time to all things, particularly animals—her idea of a fun outing was visiting an animal shelter and doling out lots of love,” the obituary read. “Isabelle was full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses for the fact that she might have a disability relative to others.”
Tate’s cause of death was revealed to be related to the rare nerve condition, Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, a condition that weakened her leg muscles over time. The actress was an active part of the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Foundation, a charity where the family have requested donations be made in lieu of flowers. Speaking about her own condition on her Instagram account in 2022, Tate said:
“This has been a difficult journey for me because having to accept help and surrender to the progression of this condition has been extremely hard. While I was trying to come to terms with this, I really did find that I lost myself in certain ways. I hated that it was not only breaking me down physically, but I was allowing it to also break down my spirit. I would’ve never expected something like this to happen to me, as most of us wouldn’t. I don’t know why these were the cards I was dealt in life, but I can’t change it so I’m choosing to embrace it and not let it define me.”
Her family added that Tate often spent “hours writing and recording songs with friends,” and the one thing she loved more than anything else was “spending time with family and friends, always the life of the party.”
Isabelle Tate’s ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Costar Pays Tribute
Tate, who was credited under the name of Izzy Tate in 9-1-1: Nashville, played Julie in the pilot episode of the series, as a girl in a wheelchair who is bullied by a bar patron while attempting to see Hunter McVey’s Blue performing his stripper act. In a statement to People, McVey shared his sadness and shock at the news of Tate’s passing. He said:
“I was shocked to hear the news. I didn’t know Isabelle prior to filming, but I couldn’t have asked for someone better to work with on one of my first ever days on set. I got the pleasure of talking with her after the scene and she had such a great energy. I could tell she brought joy to a lot of people. I’m thankful I got the chance to work with Isabelle and that a part of her will live on forever in the pilot episode of 9-1-1 Nashville. Prayers for her family.”
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
