Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming feature film F.A.S.T. received an exciting production update from one of its many stars, and frequent Sheridan collaborator Jason Clarke, who shared, “They’re about to move to Spain and shoot a bunch of crazy stuff.”
Clarke spoke to MovieWeb about his upcoming Apple TV+ series The Last Frontier, where he stars as a U.S. Marshal tasked with protecting a small town from a downed plane of violent criminals.
“I’ve known Taylor for a long, long time. I was supposed to be in the original ‘Wind River,’ and it didn’t work out because of dates and times, so I did the second ‘Wind River’, which he actually didn’t produce or direct, and then he gave me a call and said, ‘Look, I’ve got this movie with a part that I’d like you to do.’ I shot my stuff [in] five days, back-to-back. It’s pretty cool.”
The Last Frontier has plenty of Sheridan vibes, pitting Clarke’s Frank Remnick against not only a sea of escaped, deranged, and violent criminals but also against a powerful government agency attempting to micromanage visibility into this costly mishap. He even went so far as to describe one sequence as “one of the most memorable things in my whole career.”
Clarke was referring to a show-stopping, gut-wrenching one-take sequence that occurs during the first episode of the show: “It’s like a dance with the camera. There are no mistakes… It’s a live theater experience while you’re doing it. The camera is part of it, and time stands still when you get it right… When things go wrong, you still fight your way through it.” Clarke is joined in the show by Haley Bennett as troubled agent Sidney Schofield, as they are forced to see past different styles and motivations to address their common catastrophe.
What We Know So Far About Taylor Sheridan’s ‘F.A.S.T.’
In addition to Clarke, F.A.S.T. brings many frequent Sheridan-verse talents back together. It reunites Sheridan with 1923 star Brandon Sklenar, who takes on the leading role of a special forces commando tasked with leading a black ops strike team against dangerous drug dealers with government protection. F.A.S.T. was in development hell for years, having been written by Sheridan back in the 2010s when Chris Pratt was attached.
In the years since, Sheridan has dominated the small screen with Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, and Landman, among others. Now that he has the means to get F.A.S.T. moving, it’ll be with some of his most celebrated collaborators, including first-time feature film director and longtime series director, as well as celebrated cinematographer Ben Richardson.
We can only imagine what the “crazy stuff in Spain” is, since we won’t see any footage for some time, and everyone remains tight-lipped about the project. Still, Clarke is no stranger to elevated action-thrillers, including his appearance in Sheridan’s sequel (without Sheridan), Wind River: The Next Chapter.
Sheridan fans have plenty to look forward to in the meantime, with season 2 of Landman on the horizon, Tulsa King currently rolling out new episodes each week, and announcements about Yellowstone‘s next wave of spinoffs.
The Last Frontier premieres on Apple TV+ on October 10, 2025.
