It’s not often that action movie icon Jason Statham is the villain, but when it does happen, even the most intimidating heroes would be wise to get out of his way. The Stath, who remains one of the most popular names in the action game right now, takes on not one, but several fellow action stars in this sequel within a major franchise that is all set to stream for free in October.

Fast and Furious is now one of the most successful action franchises of all time, but when you’re seven movies deep you need a little extra push. Hence, The Stath was added to the series in Furious 7 following a blink-and-you-miss-it mid-credits scene which quickly demonstrates how formidable his character, Deckard Shaw, really is.

Released in 2015 and directed by James Wan, Furious 7 features an ensemble cast that includes Vin Diesel, Paul Walker (in his final role), Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Djimon Hounsou, and Kurt Russell, with Statham joining the fray as the primary antagonist. And what an antagonist he is, with the sequel following Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his precious family fleeing Deckard Shaw as he hunts them across the globe on a hunt for revenge. Furious 7 is all set to land on the free streaming platform Tubi on October 1, 2025, and you can check out the official synopsis below.

“After defeating international terrorist Owen Shaw, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew have separated to return to more normal lives. However, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), Owen’s older brother, is thirsty for revenge. A slick government agent offers to help Dom and company take care of Shaw in exchange for their help in rescuing a kidnapped computer hacker who has developed a powerful surveillance program.”

The ‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Is Almost at an End…

Universal Pictures

Furious 7 had a lot to shoulder, with the action sequel being the final role for the late Paul Walker, who tragically died in a car crash on November 30, 2013. Defying all expectations, the action outing works as a surprisingly sentimental send-off for both Paul Walker and his character Brian O’Conner, with Furious 7 being met with widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences alike, as reflected in its 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Fast and Furious franchise, meanwhile, is all set to wrap up with the upcoming Fast and Furious 11, aka Fast XI, aka Fast X: Part 2. The finale is now expected to be released in 2027, with Statham returning alongside Vin Diesel and the rest of the core cast. Including, somehow, Walker’s Brian O’Connor. Statham will also potentially return to the world of Fast and Furious in the long-awaited Hobbs and Shaw 2, which is reportedly in the works.

Outside the Fast and Furious franchise, Jason Statham is now all set to return for The Beekeeper 2 under director Timo Tjahjanto, who recently added Jeremy Irons to the roster. The Stath will also lead Plane director Jean-François Richet’s Mutiny and Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh’s as-yet-untitled gritty action flick.
