By the power of the internet, Masters of the Universe fans have finally discovered whether one iconic character will be in the new live action movie based on the 80s cartoon franchise. While many classic characters from the animated series, such as Beast Man, Trap-Jaw, Ram Man, and Moss Man, have all been confirmed for the highly anticipated action blockbuster, there are some characters that have never been mentioned in any official reports. The inclusion of one character in particular would certainly go a long way to prove that Travis Knight’s take on He-Man is doing it for the fans, and that character is Battle Cat.
As per ForEternia.com, the presence of He-Man’s gigantic feline friend has now been confirmed thanks to a new standee featured at a Toy Association event in Los Angeles. The standee, which was placed inside the mouth of a recreation of the face of Castle Grayskull, shows Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man riding Battle Cat. Not only is this the first time Battle Cat, and presumably his weaker counterpart of Cringer, has appeared in live action, but his design comes with the classic green and yellow-striped fur, with red face mask and saddle. In short, Masters of the Universe is doing everything possible to literally put the Filmation cartoon series on screens next summer.
The new image has sparked hope of another currently unaccounted for character making an appearance in the film, the magical Orko, who, like Battle Cat/Cringer has not been featured in any official cast lists or marketing. While the film has already wrapped, it is worth pointing out that at the time of writing, only one official shot of Galitzine as He-Man has been released. There has not even been a sneak peek at the design of Jared Leto’s Skeletor yet. With Battle Cat confirmed, it seems that there will be many happy fans even more excited about the movie’s release next year.
