We are not going to lie. September’s modest offering of new titles on Netflix had us a bit worried about what the streaming platform would add to its content for the fall months. However, our expectations have been exceeded, with October perhaps being the best batch of original and new titles to land on the streaming platform all year. In October 2025, whether you are looking for a new bingeable series or the perfect movie night pick, Netflix has you covered.
We have highlighted the must-watch titles on Netflix for October. Below that, you will find a complete list of all the movies and shows coming to the platform.
‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’ (Limited Series)
Available to Stream October 3
The third installment in Netflix’s anthology series Monster, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Monster: The Ed Gein Story offers a dramatization of the chilling true-crime case of Wisconsin killer Ed Gein, whose crimes would influence iconic horror films like Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.
Here, the series follows Ed Gein, played by Charlie Hunnam, who appears as a seemingly harmless recluse, but begins a sharp mental decline that sees him become a grave robber and murderer. Fans can expect to find the same stylized and harrowing look into the mind of a serial killer that has already been established in the series. Monster: The Ed Gein Story is available to stream on Netflix on October 3.
‘Steve’ (2025)
Available to Stream October 3
Cillian Murphy stars as the titular Steve, a headteacher for a residential reform school for troubled boys in 1996’s England, struggling with personal mental health issues while trying to support his students before the closure of the facility. Unfolding in real-time, the movie highlights the institutional and emotional challenges at a pivotal point in the British education system.
Having previously received a limited theatrical release, Steve has already garnered praise from critics for Cillian Murphy’s performance and a harrowing yet gripping portrayal of a broken system; the movie currently stands at 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. Steve is available to stream on Netflix on October 3.

‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ (2025)
Available to Stream October 10
The Woman in Cabin 10 sees Keira Knightley play Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a traveling journalist who believes she witnesses a woman being thrown overboard during a luxury cruise through the Norwegian fjords. However, while making the report, she is told that everyone on board is accounted for, making her question her sanity while also pushing to discover the truth behind what happened.
Director Simon Stone has been building a dedicated following for his bold psychological thrillers and intimate storytelling: The Woman in Cabin 10 also marks another adapted work, based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 novel of the same name, that the director is set to tackle after the success of 2021’s The Dig. An ensemble cast, featuring an anticipated lead role for Keira Knightley, under Stone’s direction, has The Woman in Cabin 10 poised to be the most talked-about thriller landing on streaming in October.

‘The Witcher’ (Season 4)
Available to Stream October 30
In many ways, it feels like it is sink or swim with The Witcher for Season 4, as it marks the first season without Henry Cavill returning, and the horrible The Witcher: Blood Origin still lingers in some fans’ memories. Still, the return of fan favorites Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, along with a larger budget and enhanced special effects, will likely draw in viewers as Netflix pushes to keep one of its most beloved original properties in the spotlight. Despite early complaints and concerns, fans are certainly hoping the series will thrive. Season 4 of The Witcher will be available on Netflix on October 30.
