Netflix continues to offer action thriller excellence in both serial and feature film form, with the streamer now eyeing a surprisingly early renewal for one of its most popular shows. While confirmation of a new season of the action hit hasn’t been confirmed officially yet, a new development strongly suggests that such a thing is imminent.

Beginning back in 2023, The Night Agent is based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, and centers on a lowly FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings…until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office. The series has been a huge hit among critics and audiences alike, with Season 3 set for release next year. But before Season 3 has even arrived, the streamer is already planning for Season 4.

The major Season 4 hint comes courtesy of Deadline, who reveal that The Night Agent will shift from filming mainly in Vancouver and New York to filming in Los Angeles after Sony Pictures Television secured a $31.6 million (40%) California tax credit. So, while The Night Agent Season 4 hasn’t been officially announced yet, it’s now surely a foregone conclusion.

The report also reveals that the “intention from early on had been for Season 4 to be set in Los Angeles contingent on the show landing a tax credit”, meaning The Night Agent’s fourth outing will mix things up as it changes location from NYC and Washington D.C. to the streets of L.A., which will no doubt bring with it all manner of new dangers.

While a release date hasn’t been set, The Night Agent is all set to return for a third season, with Netflix reportedly aiming to debut it in early 2026. While more specific details regarding the direction of The Night Agent Season 3 remain under wraps, we did recently get some major clues after the titles for each episode in the 10-episode season were released. They read as follows; “Call Waiting,” “Dark Matters,” “Lockstep Mesquite,” “Murky Waters,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Orion,” “Package Deal,” “Razzmatazz,” “The Isolation Play,” and “Truth Be Told.”

The first season was met with a positive response from both critics and audiences alike, landing respective scores of 75% and 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the second season proved to be far more divisive, with the audience score landing at just 38% alongside the critics’ 86%.

The Night Agent was renewed for a third season back in October last year, with both seasons of the action thriller series proving to be another big genre hit for Netflix and racking up hundreds of millions of views. Gabriel Basso returns to lead The Night Agent Season 3, with the likes of Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton, and Albert Jones having now been bumped up to series regulars. Newcomers to the cast include Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Chibuikem Uche, and Michael Masini.
