In the ever-expanding landscape of streaming services and subscriptions, it’s hard not to feel like television is reverting to the way cable subscriptions once worked. With streaming services like Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max being offered in bundles, and niche platforms like Shudder or MGM+ offering their own unique libraries, there are so many ways to view different kinds of content. Paramount+ is now preparing to follow in the footsteps of sports subscription services by introducing a new way to watch select channels and original series simultaneously, something other streaming services similar to Paramount+ haven’t offered before.

According to a report from Variety, Paramount+ is set to launch a multi-view feature the week of Sept. 15, just in time for CBS Sports’ UEFA soccer coverage, though the streamer also wants to use it down the line for other types of content. Initially, the plan is to allow subscribers to watch four matches at once, similar to features like MLB’s Big Inning or the NFL+ subscription service. However, what makes Paramount’s implementation of this feature unique is the idea of “actively evolving the experience,” with Paramount Skydance also saying that they hope the multi-view feature becomes “even more dynamic and personalized,” though a specific timetable for that wasn’t provided.

The idea of viewing multiple programs at once is an interesting one, though it could further drown out the diverse catalog of films and television shows that populate streaming services like Paramount+. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if multi-viewing different channels affects how viewer metrics are recorded, or what exactly will be allowed to be viewed simultaneously with other programs. It’s an interesting initiative that will undoubtedly help Paramount+ stand out in an ocean of streaming services, but whether it becomes a widely used feature remains to be seen, especially with regard to how it’s utilized.

Paramount+ Will Implement New Viewing Features to Stand Out From the Competition

Streaming services are continually evolving due to the sheer amount of competition, with companies like Netflix overhauling entire user interfaces to be better suited to shifts in viewing habits. For Paramount+’s multiscreen initiative, the only other type of content mentioned in Variety’s report, other than sports, was “entertainment and news” options, as the company seems to be keeping its plans intentionally vague. Following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount last month, it appears that further changes are on the horizon for the company, affecting both the studio’s structure and content, as well as its utilization in streaming services like Paramount+.

CBS Sports’ inclusion of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League coverage on Paramount+ will definitely help to incentivize subscribers on the platform. Moreover, being able to view multiple games at once is the smartest way to introduce the multi-view feature before “evolving” it to make it a part of other content on the streaming service. While the battle between streaming platforms will only continue, the latest Paramount+ addition is sure to help at least make subscribers curious about the potential for managing the vast amount of content on the service.
