An action thriller that puts an explosive spin on the Quentin Tarantino classic Reservoir Dogs is out now on digital and promises to be the no-nonsense action effort you’re looking for, as reviews and reactions praise the fight scenes, intense plotting, and the emergence of the next big action hero.
Directed by Jamie Marshall (Den of Thieves) from a script written by Leon Langford, Safe House stars Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat, Deadpool & Wolverine) alongside a stellar ensemble cast that includes Hannah John-Kamen (Thunderbolts*), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), Lucien Laviscount (The Bye Bye Man), and Ethan Embry (Last Seen Alive).
The reactions have heaped praise on Tan, with X/Twitter user @AndrewMGorham calling Safe House an “Entertaining DTV actioner that never overstays its welcome” before declaring, “Solid cast but Lewis Tan steals the movie with his screen presence and elevates the action on display.” Fellow fan @BrendaLeeSande3 applauded the tense, paranoid plotting before saying, “The nonstop action was crazy good.”
@fuforthought_, meanwhile, praised Tan’s action hero for taking an absolute “beat down. Action films so often fail to make their heroes relatable by making them indestructible. Nice to see the good guys get put through the grinder in this one.” Tan himself has since replied, revealing that he had just one day to rehearse with “no doubles at all, the sweat and blood was properly earned.”
‘Safe House’ Has Been Declared an Anxiety-Inducing Action Thriller
The critics’ reviews continue the positivity, with The Action Elite saying what many an action fan has long been thinking about Lewis Tan…
“Overall, Safe House is 90 minutes of pure anxiety with plenty of action and Lewis Tan deserves to be one of the next big action stars. It is a little predictable in parts, but the action is well done, and it manages to keep the tension up right to the end credits.”
Keith & the Movies heaped praise on director Jamie Marshall, who “shrewdly keeps us invested by steadily propelling things forward and raising the stakes every step of the way. His steady screw-tightening and bursts of furious action makes “Safe House” an entertaining watch.” Finally, Flick Feast sums things up by simply saying, “An enjoyable pressure cooker of a movie that delivers thrills & kills, and twists & turns a plenty.” Safe House was released in select theaters on October 31 and is now available on digital. Now, with armed operatives closing in and secrets unraveling, mistrust boils over into chaos. Each agent harbors classified knowledge–and potentially deadly intent. In this fast-paced thriller, no one is safe, and no one can be trusted.”
