When it comes to aged-action heroes, the likes of Liam Neeson and Sylvester Stallone don’t compare to Jorma Tommila as Aatami Korpi in one of the greatest action war movies of the decade: Sisu. Now, the movie is once again back in the free streaming chart on Tubi ahead of the release of its sequel later this month.

One of the best action war movies in recent memory, Sisu is a brutal and engrossing movie written and directed by visionary Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, who is very quickly establishing himself as one of the best modern action movie directors. Following the surprise international hit, 2010’s Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, which combined action, folk horror, and Christmas to create an unforgettable cult classic, he tried his hand at Hollywood with the underrated 2015 flick Big Game, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Stevenson, and Jim Broadbent. However, in 2022’s Sisu, Helander hit the top of his game, leading to the movie being hailed as one of the best action movies of the decade…or possibly the century…with a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 94% based on 182 reviews, and a great audience score of 88%.

Jorma Tommila plays Aatami Korpi alongside Aksel Hennie, Jack Doolan, Mimosa Willamo, and Onni Tommila. The brutal and bloody action movie follows a lone prospector out for revenge against the Nazi’s who robbed him during the final days of World War II. The full synopsis reads:

“During the last desperate days of WWII, a solitary prospector (Jorma Tommila) crosses paths with Nazis on a scorched-earth retreat in northern Finland. When the Nazis steal his gold, they quickly discover that they have just tangled with no ordinary miner. While there is no direct translation for the Finnish word “sisu”, this legendary ex-commando will embody what sisu means: a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds. And no matter what the Nazis throw at him, the one-man death squad will go to outrageous lengths to get his gold back — even if it means killing every last Nazi in his path.”

Set for release on November 21, Sisu: Road to Revenge has already been wowing critics, scoring an even more impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and setting up an even better sequel.

The sequel sees Tommila return in the lead role, starring alongside Richard Brake and Stephen Lang. Following the events of the first movie, Sisu: Road to Revenge is described as “wall-to-wall action” and finds Tommila’s character returning from the war to discover his entire family has been murdered, “the man who refuses to die” heads out on a journey to rebuild while clashing with the people determined to finish the job they started.

Sisu: Road to Revenge will open in cinemas on November 21, giving fans plenty of time to rewatch the first movie again while it is streaming for free.
