Stephen King frequently shares his personal reviews of the biggest shows and movies on streaming, so it is not surprising that he has been doing just that after watching Alien: Earth. King has plenty of experience writing about aliens, in novels like The Tommyknockers, Under the Dome, and Dreamcatcher, but his takes on critters from outer space are very different to the world of Xenomorphs Ridley Scott created in 1979. When it comes to the latest installment in the Alien saga, though, King has some very positive words to share about the Disney+ series.
Alien: Earth is the first time the Alien franchise has ventured into TV, and although it might have seemed to be nothing more than Disney looking to put their Fox-acquired franchise to work and earn them some more money, the show has proven to be one of the best entries in the franchise. It is perhaps not surprising, then, that King has nothing but a glowing review of the show so far. Writing on his Threads account, King said of Noah Hawley’s series:
“I think ALIEN EARTH might be my favorite. The SFX are amazing (not to mention gross), and the dialogue is sharp. The real monsters appear to be the 5 corporations that have carved up the planet.”
‘Alien: Earth’ Is Delivering Everything Fans Could Want
When Alien: Earth debuted its first episodes, the series set up a story that takes place just 10 years before Ellen Ripley faced off with one of the deadliest creatures in the universe on board the ill-fated Nostromo. While it introduced all-new characters and a new set of potential heroes and villains to the franchise, the show also combined the same mix of alien action, agenda-driven sabotage, and plenty of suspense.
This was never truer than in Episode 5, which paused the main story to go back and see what happened to the crew of the ship responsible for bringing the xenomorph and other vicious alien creatures to Earth. For many, the episode played out like a self-contained story that provided some of the best moments the franchise had ever delivered.
Now, as Season 1 heads towards its closing episodes, the question everyone wants to know is whether there will be a second season to follow. Hawley has already made it clear that he definitely knows where the series will go next, and hopes that he gets the chance to tell the whole story.
Although every new series has the sword of Damocles hanging over its head while streamers decide its fate, Alien: Earth seems certain to be renewed for Season 2. The show has landed some impressive reviews, been dominating the top of the Disney+/Hulu chart since its debut, and every episode just seems to improve on what came before. An official announcement has not been made yet about Alien: Earth Season 2, but if it doesn’t happen, we riot.
