Last year it was reported that Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried would be teaming up to star in an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, The Housemaid. Now, nearly 365 days later, we have our first look at the two superstars in the new movie, which is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 19, 2025.

Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemade also stars Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us), and Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor). Penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the new psychological thriller is being described as a “seductive game of secrets, scandal and power.” The first-look images (seen below) come courtesy of People, and highlight just a little of the intrigue that’s in store for fans in the adaptation of The Housemade, which was first published in 2022 and is just one of three books in McFadden’s Housemade Series. Check out the full synopsis below:

“Millie (Sweeney) is a struggling woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar), an upscale, wealthy couple. She soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”

More to come…
