Ted Lasso Season 4 is in production, and though most details are being kept in a vault by producers, one of the show’s stars has opened up a little about what fans can expect from its return.

Nick Mohammed, best known for playing Nate the Wonder Kid, recently spoke with Collider while promoting Season 5 of his other Apple TV series, Slow Horses. When asked about his future on Ted Lasso, Mohammed provided an answer that might suggest the return of one of the show’s most polarizing characters.

“I think sworn to secrecy is about right. Look, I know that it’s about a whole different set of characters. I can’t even talk about it without giving anything away! We’ll have to see. We’ll have to see who pops up where and when. But I know that they’re filming it now, and I’ve been socializing with them all. They’re all very well, so we’ll see what happens.”

Nate’s was one of many arcs that concluded in Season 3. Ted came back to the U.S. to coach his son’s soccer team. Coach Beard stayed in England and got married. Rebecca made a clever business move. Roy Kent stayed as lead coach of AFC Richmond. Keeley saw her PR business grow and even proposed to Rebecca the idea of putting together a women’s soccer team. Season 4 will see Lasso coaching a women’s soccer team, and it all points to the series moving to another location. The previously mentioned characters could return.

But Nate? After playing one of the most vile characters on modern television, writers felt that he needed redemption. At the end of Season 3, Nate was welcomed back into the halls of AFC Richmond, and viewers awkwardly saw a character avoiding a moral dilemma. It was controversial to say the least, and it is definitely a part of the story that needs further development in Season 4. That is, if Nate comes back.

Who’s Returning in ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4?

Apple TV is keeping everything under wraps, and Mohammed’s comments are like everyone else’s. Season 4 of Ted Lasso is currently in production, but details will stay secret for some time. Naturally, aside from the already-revealed plot line, everyone wants to know about the casting.

So, who’s actually returning in Ted Lasso Season 4? For now, all we can confirm is what the first look revealed a few months ago. The fourth season will see Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as Coach Ted, Hannah Waddingham returning as Rebecca Welton, Juno Temple back as Keeley Jones, and Jeremy Swift set to reprise his role as Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.

The return of others is a matter of speculation. Since the series will see a major change of setting, it’s safe to assume that most won’t return. Even Brett Goldstein’s return as Roy is up for debate, and he’s one of the most prominent characters in the series. The question is, will you be satisfied if they show up even in cameos? Or do you believe Ted Lasso is risking too much by featuring an almost entirely new team?
