Noah Wyle, who was nominated five consecutive times for his role in ER, has finally landed an Emmy. His performance in HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt garnered widespread recognition, but now he has some gold to show for it ahead of Season 2. In fact, the acclaimed streaming series dominated some of the biggest categories at the ceremony.

Wyle has won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in The Pitt. It’s been nearly 30 years since he earned his first Supporting Actor nomination for ER in 1995, so longtime fans will be especially happy with him getting some long-deserved recognition at the Emmys. His win for The Pitt was against steep competition, too, including Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, and Adam Scott for Severance. In his acceptance speech, Wyle made sure to thank real-life emergency workers, saying, “To anybody who is going on shift, or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job. This is for you.”

Joining Wyle is Katherine LaNasa, who nabbed the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award for her performance as Dana Evans. At the end of the night, The Pitt also landed the top prize with the Outstanding Drama Series award, beating out heavy-hitters like Severance, Andor, and Slow Horses, among others. As an executive producer on the series, Wyle now has two major Emmys under his belt, with more potentially on the way if Season 2 lives up to the quality of the first batch of episodes.

Fans will miss her presence in the Emmy-winning medical drama, but there will be plenty to still be invested in the second time around. The upcoming season of The Pitt is set to revolve around the Fourth of July weekend, which sees Robinavitch and Langdon return to the hospital 10 months after the finale. Read the official logline:
