Tom Hiddleston has been a fan-favorite as Loki in the MCU for many years, and delivered a tour de force performance in Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck earlier in 2025. Now, the BBC have finally released the trailer for his TV return as spy Jonathan Pine in the long-delayed The Night Manager Season 2.
Based on a novel by John le Carré, The Night Manager was released in 2016 to great acclaim, landing a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score and being almost certain to be renewed for a second season. However, that renewal took eight years to materialize, with the BBC and Amazon announcing in 2024 that the series was being renewed for two more seasons. Now, after some teasing images earlier in the week, fans can finally get their first look at Hiddleston’s return to the world of espionage. Check out the trailer below.
‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 Plot Details Revealed
While there is still no release date set for the return of The Night Manager, the arrival of a trailer now suggests that the show will debut within the next few months, as the BBC does not tend to promote their TV shows more than two or three months in advance.
This time around, Hiddleston’s Pine is living under the alias of Alex Goodwin eight years after the events of the original series. While working for a London low-level MI6 surveillance unit, his new life is quickly disrupted when he is pulled back into his old life for another dangerous mission.
After much speculation, the second season will see Hiddleston joined by returning stars Olivia Colman (Angela Burr), Alistair Petrie (Sandy Langbourne), Douglas Hodge (Rex Mayhew), Michael Nardone (Frisky), and Noah Jupe (Daniel Roper). The series will also bring in some new blood with Camila Morrone (Roxana), Diego Calva (Teddy), Indira Varma (Mayra), Paul Chahid (Basil), and Hayley Squires (Sally).
For many fans of Hiddleston, the actor has always been a potential candidate to play the greatest spy of them all, James Bond. While it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen for the British star, The Night Manager proves that it doesn’t really matter. With at least two new seasons of the show to come, this is the James Bond replacement that Hiddleston’s fanbase is desperate to get their next fix of after almost a decade.
